ADDITIONAL PROGRAM INFORMATION

Due to the sequencing of courses in the FSE program, eligible students must first complete a pre-admission Fall semester of courses before they can be formally admitted to the major in the subsequent Spring semester. Students who successfully complete all required courses in said pre-admission semester with a C or better are approved to continue in the program.

All students, including Distance Education students, will be required to travel to approved Indiana preceptor locations to complete required embalmings and embalming certification. The Distance education students are required to attend the restorative art principles application review on the Vincennes Campus during the final spring semester of the program. Students will schedule the embalmings with preceptors at approved sites with permission of the Program Chair. Students are required to complete a minimum of 10 embalmings under Preceptor and Chair supervision. (The student is responsible for all travel expenses related to these requirements, as well as food and lodging expenses.)

Program Admission Requirements

Meet admission requirements for the University.
Qualify for minimum placement into MATT 109 with no co-requisite as determined by appropriate placement tests, or receive appropriate transfer credit.
Qualify for placement into ENGL 101 with no co-requisite or higher as determined by appropriate placement tests, or receive appropriate transfer credit.
Hold no grade less than a C in any required course in the Funeral Service Education Curriculum.
GPA Requirements
- High School students must have a high school GPA of at least 2.3.
- Students with completed college-level courses must hold a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.

This program is designed for non-traditional students who have attained Journeyman or equivalent in a skilled trade and wish to fulfill the basic requirements for an Associate Career/Tech degree. The program provides flexibility by allowing students to receive credit for training received through a certified Department of Labor apprenticeship program or other known and recognized industry association training programs as set by MOU.

Guidelines for Technology Apprenticeship/Journeyman Credit

Making application and being accepted as a Vincennes University student.
Apprenticeship/Journeyman credit up to 36 credit hours will be granted through completion of Technology On Job Training (TOJT) courses.
Trade training/testing certificates will be required for submission in the course TOJT 208 - On-the-Job VIII before a degree will be awarded.
Submitting payment at $25.00 per credit hour for major program requirements.

Writing Reading/Speaking Intensive Requirement

Students are required to take PHIL 215 - Business Ethics to fulfill the Writing Reading/Speaking Intensive requirement. Students must complete this course with a grade of C or better to graduate.

In addition to these credits, students must complete selected general education courses and fulfill a minimum residency requirement of no less than fifteen credit hours through Vincennes University.

Homeland Security and Public Safety 7000, B.S.

Admission into this baccalaureate degree program is contingent on acceptance to Vincennes University and will require approval of the Homeland Security and Public Safety Baccalaureate Degree Department Chair and the Dean of Business and Public Service.

Homeland Security and Public Safety - Cybercrime Investigations and Incident Responder Concentration 7001, B.S.

Admission into this baccalaureate degree program is contingent on acceptance to Vincennes University, completion of an approved Associate Degree, and will require approval of the Homeland Security and Public Safety Baccalaureate Degree Department Chair/Information Technology Department Chair, and the Dean of Business and Public Service.

The following course requirement from the above programs will require your physical presence: HSPS 470: Internship in Public Safety.

Note: Homeland Security and Public Safety majors must obtain a minimum grade of C in each Homeland Security and Public Safety (HSPS) course in order to receive a B.S. degree in Homeland Security and Public Safety.

Registered nurses who have graduated from a nationally accredited associate degree or diploma nursing program may apply for admission to the Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program and earn a baccalaureate in nursing. The program is designed to provide professional registered nurses the opportunity to achieve advancement in their careers and seek leadership and management roles in the health care setting. The program offers experiences in various healthcare settings, including leadership and community nursing.

The RN to BSN Completion program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. Information on accreditation status may be obtained by contacting the ACEN.
