Scholarship Opportunities at Vincennes University for LatinX and Diverse Students
Vincennes University is committed to supporting a diverse, inclusive, and multicultural student community. Through partnerships and dedicated scholarship programs, VU offers valuable financial assistance to Latino students and students from underrepresented backgrounds. Below are the scholarships available to help you achieve your academic goals.
VU Opportunity Scholarship
About the Scholarship
The VU Opportunity Scholarship awards $1,000 annually to incoming freshmen or transfer students who demonstrate strong academic achievement and leadership in organizations or activities. This scholarship is part of Vincennes University’s commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Scholarship Amount: $1,000 ($500 per semester
- Application Deadline: March 1, 2025 (Priority deadline: January 15 for future years)
- Notification: Recipients will be notified by mid-April.
- Renewal: Not automatic—students must reapply each year.
Eligibility Requirements:
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- 3.0 high school GPA or higher
- Complete the annual FAFSA application
- Complete 30 credit hours per academic year at Vincennes University
- Submit an essay and resume by the deadline
Essay & Resume Submission Guidelines
Essay Topic for 2025-2026:
"In a 500-750 word essay, reflect on your academic achievements and leadership roles in organizations or activities. How have your experiences helped you develop leadership skills and contribute to an inclusive and supportive environment? Discuss specific instances where you have taken initiative in fostering collaboration and engagement within your school, community, or extracurricular activities. Explain how these experiences have prepared you to contribute to a welcoming and engaged student body at Vincennes University. Lastly, describe how receiving this scholarship will support your academic and leadership goals."
Resume Requirements:
- Include: Academic history, extracurricular activities, leadership roles, and community involvement.
- Highlight: Specific programs or initiatives you have contributed to.
- Format: Submit as a PDF or Word document.
Submission Instructions:
- Submit your essay and resume together via email to vuscholarships@vinu.edu.
- Deadline: March 1, 2025.
Judging Criteria
- Academic Achievement (30%) – GPA, honors, academic motivation.
- Leadership in Organizations (30%) – Leadership roles, teamwork, mentorship.
- Contribution to a Supportive and Engaging Community (30%) – Positive impact, collaboration, inclusivity.
- Writing Quality (10%) – Organization, grammar, clarity.

Vincennes University/Indiana Latino Institute (ILI) Promise Scholarship
Vincennes University, in partnership with the Indiana Latino Institute (ILI), is proud to offer two full-tuition scholarships for in-state students through the ILI Scholars Program.
Eligibility Requirements:
- ILI Scholar must participate in the ILI Education Program for at least one full year before applying to be an ILI Scholar.
- ILI Scholar must attend the ILI Latino Education Summit before applying to be an ILI Scholar
- Student must be accepted to Vincennes University
- 3.0 GPA in high school.
Program Requirements:
- Student must participate in the ILI College Coaching program during the duration of the scholarship.
- Student must complete degree within 2-4 years
