Vincennes University is proud to be Indiana's designated recipient of federal grant
funding from the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) to provide assistance
in the training and retraining of Indiana's miners.
The Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) is the nationally-recognized standard for
measuring an individual’s ability to handle the physical demands of the firefighting
profession.
Industrial Maintenance training at Vincennes University is designed for the entry-level
worker with little knowledge and teaches them the core foundational skills to develop
into a multi-skilled Industrial Maintenance Technician.
VU's Mining Program provides the required training for new underground miners and
required training for new surface miners. In addition MSHA requires an Annual Refresher
training for all miners.
Vincennes University is an official OSHA Training Institute Host Organization in cooperation
with the Great Lakes OSHA Education Center at the University of Cincinnati.
