Chapter 33

The Post-9/11 GI Bill® provides up to 36 months of educational benefits for individuals who served on active duty on or after September 10, 2001. Dependents may also use Chapter 33 benefits transferred to them by their sponsor.

Explanation of Benefits:

You may recieve a percentage of the following payments, based on your service time:

• A tuition and Fee payment that is paid directly to Vincennes University on your behalf.
• A monthy Housing Allowance (MHA) that is equal to the Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) payable for the zip code of your school to a military E-5 with dependents
• A Books and Supplies Stipend of up to $1,000 per year

Chapter 30

The Montgomery GI Bill® – Active Duty program provides up to 36 months of educational benefits for veterans who entered active duty beginning July 1, 1985. Benefits are available to you for 10 years after ending active duty.

Chapter 31

In most cases, in order to receive Veterans Readiness and Employment (VR&E) education benefits, you must receive monthly VA disability payments. However, exceptions are made in some cases. This award will cover tuition, books, supplies, and other education-related expenses. Application is separate and distinct from the education benefit applications.

Chapter 1606

The Montgomery GI Bill®—Selected Reserve benefits are available to members of the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, Coast Guard Reserve, Army National Guard, or Air National Guard.  You may be entitled to recieve up to 36 months of education benefits.

Chapter 35

Dependents’ Educational Assistance (DEA) program offers education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of Veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to a service-related condition or of Veterans who died while on active duty or as a result of a service-related condition.

Indiana Children of Deceased or Disabled Veterans (CDV)
The Tuition and Fee Exemption for Children of Disabled Veterans provides up to 100% of tuition and regularly assessed fees for up to 124 semester credit-hours at Indiana public colleges and universities at the undergraduate resident tuition rate.

Indiana National Guard Supplemental Grant (NGSG)
Through a partnership with the Indiana National Guard, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (ICHE) guarantees 100% of tuition and regularly assessed fees for eligible members of the Indiana Air and Army National Guard. Students can attend either full-time or part-time and receive the National Guard Tuition Supplement Grant (NGSG) but can only be used in the fall and spring semesters.

Each branch of service has their own regulations and eligibility requirements for using Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA). Please contact your local Education Office for more information.
