VU will host open auditions for The Diary of Anne Frank
November 07, 2018
VINCENNES, Ind. - The Vincennes University Theatre Department will host auditions
for The Diary of Anne Frank on November 12 and 13, 5:45-8 p.m. (EST), in the Theatre
Lab 147 at VU’s Red Skelton Performing Arts Center.
Auditions are open to members of the community as well as VU students.
Parts are available for five men, five women, and 3 extras. Show dates are February
14-15-16-17.
About the show: The Franks and another Jewish family must hide from the Nazis who
are exterminating Jewish citizens during the Holocaust. They try to co-exist peacefully
in a secret annex hidden behind a bookcase in Otto Frank's office. They must not make
noise or leave the annex for fear of being discovered. Only Miep Gies and Jan Kraler
are allowed to visit; they help the families by bringing them needed items and outside
news. Anne keeps a diary recording the trials and tribulations the experience, as
well as her own coming of age in a tiny room surrounded by frustration, selfishness,
and fear.
