VINCENNES, Ind. - Financial aid professionals from Vincennes University and across Indiana are volunteering to help college-bound students and their families open the door to financial aid during College Goal Sunday.

The free virtual event is set for 2 p.m. (ET), March 7, 2021.

"The key to receiving financial aid is filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online,” VU Financial Aid Counselor Michael McClure said. “Some may think that filling out the FAFSA may seem complicated and confusing. College Goal Sunday is the perfect opportunity for students and parents to talk with financial aid experts and get free assistance in completing the FAFSA. Our VU staff will also encourage students to seek out scholarships. In addition to help filing the FAFSA, students may also win a $1,000 scholarship by attending the virtual College Goal Sunday."

College Goal Sunday assists Hoosiers in filing the FAFSA. The FAFSA form is required for students to be considered for federal and state grants, scholarships, and federal student loans at most colleges, universities, and vocational/technical schools nationwide. The FAFSA must be filed by April 15 to be eligible for Indiana financial aid.
