December 18, 2017
VINCENNES, Ind. - Vincennes University’s Pharmacy Technology program is now a Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation (CSPT) Program, according to an announcement from Karen Daugherty, chair of the VU Pharmacy Technology Program.
The certification comes from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, which advocates for a single national standard for pharmacy technician certification that is recognized and supported by the profession.
"This is another mark of excellence for our Pharmacy Technology program in receiving this national recognition,” said Jana Vieck, dean of the VU College of Health Sciences and Human Performance. “With Karen Daugherty's leadership, VU's Pharmacy Technology program continues to be a leader in the field."
According to Daugherty, the benefit for students is they can now sign up at VU to take the PTCB Certified Sterile Preparation Technician Certification Exam, in addition to the National Certified Pharmacy Technician Exam which students currently take upon completing the VU program.
“This is a great opportunity for our students to add to their career qualifications and credentials,” Daugherty said.
