VU introduces $5,000 Residential Opportunity Scholarships for all new students and
eligible returning students

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University is pleased to announce a very special opportunity that will provide financial assistance to students who want to make University Housing their home away from home for the 2021-22 academic year.
The Residential Opportunity Scholarship is a scholarship for up to $5,000 available to all incoming students and returning students in good standing as VU prepares to return to a traditional semester for Fall Semester 2021 and beyond. The scholarship is renewable for up to two years of study.
In addition to introducing the $5,000 residential scholarships, VU has extended the deadline to apply for most scholarships to Aug. 15, 2021. The University is still accepting scholarship applications for the upcoming fall semester and new monies are being allocated to support additional scholarships for the 2021-22 academic year for students at all VU sites.
Students will return this fall to a campus abuzz with activity. Classes will be in person. Events like the annual Tube Race down the Wabash River, Welcome Weekend, Parent and Family Weekend, and Homecoming Week will take place. Fall and Spring semesters jam-packed with music events, comedians, thought-provoking and inspiring lectures, movie nights, talent contests, and other fun activities await. Fans will fill stands for Trailblazer athletic events. VU’s vibrant community of more than 60 student-led clubs and organizations will once again host multiple activities throughout the year such as flag football games, dances, board game competitions, pizza parties, video game tournaments, paintball games, and much more.
University Housing provides a safe and convenient home base for classes, food, fun, and on-campus activities. VU offers a wide variety of unique and amazing residential styles and locations.

Through this scholarship, VU is doing our part to reach out and assist students and families who may be feeling uncertain about their future. The Residential Opportunity Scholarship is intended to make sure that as many students as possible can take advantage of the full residential college experience offered on our Vincennes campus. We are planning an abundance of events and enrichment activities that will make for a fulfilling and memorable college journey. Residential Opportunity Scholarships are available to all incoming students and eligible returning students. Eligible students will receive up to $2,500 per semester. Other grants and scholarships can affect the amount received. A meal plan is not included.
It is simple to receive a housing scholarship. Incoming students only need to apply to VU to qualify.
Early College and Project EXCEL students who have earned VU credit while in high school qualify for the scholarship.
Returning students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 and must be in good standing with the University to qualify for the scholarship.
Students who do not meet the minimum cumulative GPA still have time to take advantage of the scholarship offer. They are encouraged to take summer classes to qualify by Fall Semester 2021.

The colorful French Quarter Apartments is VU’s newest community and is a one-of-a-kind property. The French-Creole-inspired complex primarily includes unfurnished three-bedroom units, each with a private full bathroom, a shared living space, washer and dryer, and a full kitchen. Amenities include internet, balconies, bike storage rooms, a fountain, and more.
The Vincennes Campus is home to six residence halls, filled with unique amenities, including suites and living/learning communities. Private rooms are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, space permitting. Each hall has comfortable study rooms, laundry rooms, recreation rooms, air conditioning, and high-speed Wi-Fi.
The Third Street Apartments offer students the independence and convenience of living in townhomes and duplexes. With options ranging from four bedrooms up to seven, students can create their own living-learning community close to campus.
VU makes every effort to provide the necessary resources and support students need to afford a VU education and earn a degree. It offers the lowest tuition of any residential college in Indiana.
Students can apply to VU online for free. VU has extended the deadline to apply for scholarships, normally due in January, to Aug. 15, 2021.
The Vincennes University Foundation awards students nearly $2 million yearly across more than 1,000 scholarships. By filling out just one application, students have access to nearly all scholarships. There is no grade point average requirement for many scholarships. Different types of scholarships are available. Some are need-based, while some are merit-based. Some are awarded based on geography. Others are specific to majors.
