VINCENNES, Ind. - The Vincennes University men’s golf team was honored with its 2018 national championship rings on Saturday.
The Trailblazers won the NJCAA Division III team title at Chautauqua Golf Club in
Chautauqua, N.Y. in June 2018. They scored a 72-hole total of 1,237 strokes and posted
a 12-stroke victory over second-place Sandhills (NC). It was the third title for the
Trailblazers. They also won championships in 2013 and 2016.
VU’s Keegan McCullough placed fourth, shot a 17-over-par 305, and earned All-American
first team honors. Teammates Zach Breault placed 11th, while Zach Hall took 12th.
Breault and Hall received All-American second team honors. VU’s Jacob English tied
for 19th and Joe Allbright finished tied for 42nd.
VU Golf Coach Dennis Chattin was named National Coach of the Year at the conclusion
of the tournament.
Chattin presented the championship rings during a special ceremony at halftime of
the men’s basketball game against John A. Logan. Chattin and Dr. Laura Treanor, provost
and vice president of Instructional Services/Dean of Faculty, each gave remarks and
saluted the team’s championship season.
“They are great ambassadors for the university,” Chattin said. “All of the young men
should be proud of themselves and I’m certainly proud of the golf that they play.”
