"I am proud of the work my students put in to make the commemorative front page of the VU Men's Basketball team's championship season possible. It was a team effort with students contributing to the writing, photography, and overall design of the page," said Media Production Department Chair and Assistant Professor of Journalism Emily Taylor.

The team of students recognized include Noah Dalton, Khadijah Doumbia, DeeShawnte Jefferson, Crystal Kohout, Cheuk Yiu Lee (Noel), Reid McClure, Kami Minnich, Olivia Tucker, and Tayveon Simmons.

“I was shocked and so excited when I saw that we had placed in the special cover category of the ICPA awards. I know how hard the staff works in every issue they publish and I’m honored to have been a part of such an incredible, award-winning team,” said Minnich, who was editor-in-chief of The Trailblazer when the special section was published.

The ICPA contest is held annually to honor news publications at colleges and universities around the state. Awards are given for the prior academic year's work.

"The Indiana Collegiate Press Association awards are a great way to recognize student journalists and photojournalists for their work, and The Trailblazer is honored to be included,” Taylor said.
