Vincennes University Department of Music presents "Guitars in the Night"

VINCENNES, Ind. - The Vincennes University Department of Music will present “Guitars in the Night” on Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. EST in the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center Theatre, 20 W. Red Skelton Blvd.
The concert is free and the public is invited to attend. Doors will open at 7 p.m.
The concert will include a wide variety of literature and musical styles. The performance will showcase the VU Guitar Ensemble, under the direction of Mike Howell; and the VU Blues Ensemble, under the direction of Virgil Franklin. Special guest performers include classical guitarist Joseph Jones. Music selections include Loris O. Chobanian’s “Songs of Ararat”, Felix Mendelssohn’s “Scherzo, Op. 16, No. 2”, Jerry Leiber’s and Mike Stoller’s “Kansas City”, Robert Johnson’s “Sweet Home Chicago”, Charles Singleton’s “Help the Poor”, Evan Twitty’s “Last Train to Texas”, Willie Dixon’s “My Babe”, and Karen Lovely’s “Fish Outta Water”.

Founded in 1801, VU is Indiana’s first college and is the only college in the nation founded by an individual who would later become President of the United States.
