Trailblazer golf ties for 11th at Indiana Small College Championships

FRENCH LICK, Ind. – The Vincennes University golf team will compete in the NJCAA Division II District I Region 24 Championship Tournament in May at The Donald Ross Course at French Link. The Trailblazers got a sneak peek and played two rounds on that course while competing in the Indiana Small College Championships on Saturday and Sunday.
VU finished tied for 11th in the team standings. The Trailblazers shot 320 as a team in the first round and fired a 334 in the second round for a two-day total of 654.
Illinois Wesleyan won the team title with 571 strokes. Parkland College was second with 587 strokes.
A pair of freshmen posted the best finishes for the Trailblazers.
Matt Jordan tied for 33rd. He opened with a 7-over-par 77 and closed with an 80 for a 157 total. Cole Parmer tied for 51st. He shot an 86 in the first round. In the final round, he carded a 79 for 165 strokes.
Sophomore Zach Hall tied for 55th with a 167. He had rounds of 82 and 85.
Sophomore Joe Allbright tied for 62nd at 172. He shot an 82 and a 90.
Centre College’s Zach Mattingly won the individual title by two strokes with a two-day score of 139 (72-67). The runner-up was Illinois Wesleyan’s Ben Johnson with 141 strokes (71-70).
VU will tee it up in the Rend Lake Spring Invite April 21-22 at Rend Lake Golf Course in Whittington, Illinois.
The District I Region 24 Championship Tournament is May 12-13.
