Swank to receive Deetz Broadcasting Scholarship
February 06, 2018
VINCENNES, Ind. - The Vincennes University Foundation is pleased to announce Bradley Swank, Elkhart, is the recipient of the 2017-18 Brad Deetz Broadcasting Scholarship at Vincennes University. Swank, the son of Lee and Kelly Swank, is a 2017 graduate of Northridge High School.
Swank is a full-time student pursuing an associate degree in broadcasting at Vincennes University. He was recommended for the scholarship based on references indicating his demonstration of great earnestness for a career in today’s media world.
The scholarship, designed to make a difference in the life of a student, supports Deetz’s philosophy, “It’s what you do between the songs that makes a difference.”
The life of Brad Deetz was tragically ended in a motorcycle-truck accident on May 7, 2014. Deetz was a dedicated broadcaster, family man, and civic steward, and he believed that one voice could make a difference. He is survived by his wife Kristi (VU ’89) and their children, Kenneth and Elizabeth.
“Brad was a great guy who always strove to make a positive contribution in the lives of others. It's an honor to be involved in recognizing him through this scholarship for broadcasting,” said VU Foundation President, Bumper Hostetler.
