Miss VU joins 7 Knox County women competing for Miss Indiana status

VINCENNES, Ind. - Miss Vincennes University Evelyn Crowley will join seven young Knox County women participating in the 2018 Miss Indiana and Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen competition, June 13-16, in Zionsville.
Crowley, 19, received her crown at the Miss VU Scholarship Pageant on Nov. 10 at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center. A graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School, she is a pre-medicine major at VU and the daughter of Kelley and John McCarty, Vincennes, and Mark Crowley, Vincennes.
Serving as Crowley’s princess during the competition will be Juleanne Small, age 7, who is the daughter of Breanne and Ryan Small, Vincennes.
Crowley will perform the song “Never Say Goodbye” for her talent and will participate in interview, on-stage question, evening gown, and bathing suit phases of the competition.
The Miss Vincennes University Scholarship Pageant is Indiana’s longest consecutively running pageant, recently celebrating its 52nd anniversary, and is a preliminary step toward the Miss Indiana title whose winner is then eligible to participate in the Miss America Scholarship Pageant.
Knox County residents will have plenty to cheer about as six more local young women compete for Miss Indiana and Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen crowns.
Contestants for Miss Indiana include Kearston Anderson, 22, Miss Northeast; Ashley Green, 23, Miss Ohio Valley; and Anastasia Sharp Keller, 19, Miss Northwest Territory, who was 2nd Runner Up in the 2018 Miss VU Pageant. Contestants for Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen include Elizabeth Deetz, 16, Miss Kosciusko’s Outstanding Teen, who is also a cousin of Crowley’s; Kierra Hilts, 15, Miss Crossroads to America’s Outstanding Teen; Mallory Obermeyer, 14, Miss Ohio Valley Outstanding Teen; and Jadie Overton, 14, Miss Northwest Territory’s Outstanding Teen.

Contestants in the Miss Indiana and Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant have a full week of activities that begin with an opening reception on June 10. Preliminary rounds will be held June 13-14-15, with the Miss Indiana and Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen Finals on June 16 at the Zionsville Performing Arts Center. Miss Indiana is the official state preliminary to the Miss America Organization, one of the nation’s leading achievement programs for young women.
