WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MY TIME AT VU?

The Technology majors will develop enhanced skills in their area of technical expertise, research advancements in their technical specialty, utilize modern technical applications, and fabricate advanced technical projects. They will also gain skill sets in ethics, business management, professional relationships, manufacturing processes, and supervisory teamwork. Graduates of this technology degree program will find enhanced employment opportunities in career fields that utilize project control, industrial applications, technical supervision, manufacturing technologies, and other advanced technical specializations.
Admission into this baccalaureate degree program requires the prospective student to possess a qualifying A.S. degree from an accredited institution. Acceptance into this program will be granted through the approval of the Technology Baccalaureate Degree Department Chair and the Dean of Technology.
Students who have received an AS or ASCT degree from any of the College of Technology programs at Vincennes University can transition into this Baccalaureate Degree Concentration.
WHAT CAN I DO WITH THIS DEGREE?
The Industrial Development degree prepares one to enter the world of many industrial
technologies to produce and distribute products and services, enhance production,
save time and money, reduce waste, offer new product lines, find new outlets of distribution,
etc. VU will provide the groundwork for your journey into the world of industrial
production, distribution, sales, service, etc. giving you skills and tools with critical
thinking, teamwork, problem solving, communication and collaboration.
Graduates of this program are many times called Technologists including Industrial
Technologists, Professional Technologists and Applied Science Technologists. According
to the NBSCETT (a certification body) for those who desire professional certifications

Technologists use an applied approach based on a comprehensive understanding of one
or more specific technologies. They evaluate assignments, determine procedures and
implement solutions, schedule work to meet objectives, participate in short and long-range
planning and may become involved in developing and promoting conceptual change.
Technologists may assume managerial or administrative responsibility for a wide range
of technical endeavors. They may supervise and coordinate a diverse working group
and train less experienced technical or professional staff.
