What can I expect during my time at VU?

  • VU provides resources for employers, including an employer gateway, business and industry training programs, a career center, and work-based learning opportunities. Adult and continuing education options are also available.
  • VU's General Studies - Technology Apprenticeship Concentration program is designed for students who already have journeyman status or equivalent experience in a skilled trade.
  • This program allows you to earn an Associate of Science in Career/Tech degree by combining your existing skills with general education courses.
  • The Technology Apprenticeship program requires you to complete Technology On Job Training (TOJT) courses, submit trade training/testing certificates, and pay $25.00 per credit hour for major program requirements.
  • You will also need to fulfill University Core Curriculum requirements, including English Composition, Mathematics, Speech, Laboratory Science, Social Science, and a Writing Reading/Speaking Intensive course (PHIL 215 - Business Ethics).

What can I do with this degree?

The program is designed for students who already hold Journeyman status or equivalent experience in a skilled trade. It allows students to earn an Associate of Science in Career/Tech degree in two semesters by combining their existing skills with general education courses. Students can receive credit for training received through a certified Department of Labor apprenticeship program or other recognized industry association training programs.
