Paramedics work under the direction of a physician through written standing orders, radio and telephone communications. They utilize knowledge and skills to manage medical emergencies of acutely ill or injured clients in prehospital settings. Paramedics are primarily employed by rescue and ambulance service providers. They are also employed in clinics, emergency hospital areas, and other health care facilities.
