French Quarter Apartments: Student Housing & Amenities

The French Quarter Apartments at Vincennes University are one of the most unique and modern housing options, offering a more independent, apartment-style living experience that is still managed by the university.

• Gender Layout: The units are designed for three students in three private, single bedrooms. The gender layout is determined by the students themselves:

  • If three students of the same gender apply to live together and list each other as preferred roommates, the unit will be single-gender.

  • It is possible for different genders to live in the same apartment, which means a unit can be co-ed (mixed gender) if the residents mutually agree and apply together.

• Amenities: The French Quarter Apartments are designed to feel like an off-campus apartment while retaining the convenience of being VU property.

  • Unit Layout: The main units feature a three-bedroom layout designed for three students.

  • Privacy Focus: Each of the three bedrooms is a private, single-occupancy room and comes with its own private bathroom and walk-in closet.

  • Shared Spaces: The three residents share a communal kitchen and a living room/common area.

• • Appliances Included: Each unit includes major appliances: Refrigerator, Dishwasher, Microwave, Washer and Dryer (in-unit laundry).

• • Furniture Not Provided: Unlike traditional residence halls, bedroom and living room furniture are not provided. Residents must furnish these areas themselves.

Location & Connectivity

French Quarter Apartments are generally available to second-year students who have accumulated a certain number of on-campus credit hours (typically 18+).

• • Proximity: The apartments are located close enough to campus to walk to class.

• • Safety and Maintenance: The properties are VU-maintained, and Campus Police patrols the area. There is staff available 24 hours a day to address issues

Historical Significance

The apartments are architecturally distinctive, inspired by the vibrant, historic, and colorful charm of the French Quarter in New Orleans. They were completed in phases starting around Fall 2020/2021.
