Aquatic Center Policies
- All users must check-in at the ID desk outside the Locker Rooms
- Only 9 Swimmers are allowed in the Aquatic Center at a time
- 6 Lap Swim Lanes – located in the shallow/deep area
- 3 Walking Lanes – located in the shallow area
1. Have fun, but be safe.
2. Users must take a cleansing, soapy shower prior to using pool facilities, including
washing hair.
3. Locker rooms and/or cubby holes are available for storage of personal items while
using the pool.
4. All users are to wear clean, dedicated swimwear. This is a family-friendly facility.
Lifeguards will answer questions regarding whether your swimwear is acceptable. Non
swimwear is not acceptable, including t-shirts, cut-offs, etc.
5. The following are not acceptable behaviors:
a. Throwing people/objects in or around the pool
b. Chicken fights, wrestling, or dunking
c. Running on the pool deck
REMINDERS:
d. Kissing, groping, or other sexual intimacies are unacceptable. This includes while
in the Pool and Hot Tub areas.
e. Diving into the shallow end is strictly prohibited.
f. Jumping into the pool over people’s heads is prohibited. Users may not enter the
pool by climbing or jumping over the handicap access railings.
6. Food and Drinks are not allowed on the pool deck. Unbreakable water bottles are
permitted.
7. The P. E. Complex, Student Rec Center, Aquatic Center, Bowling Center, and Student
Center are alcohol, e-cigarette and tobacco-free (smoking or chewing) facilities.
8. Lifeguards serve and protect users and maintain proper decorum in and around the
pool area. Safety first. Lifeguards will follow proper protocol to protect pool users.
As A pool user, you are expected to follow all instructions and requests of lifeguarding
staff.
9. Nothing you do should cause damage or harm to anything or anyone in/around the
pool. Established rules and regulations of Vincennes University will be strictly followed.

Statement of Objectives by Priorities
- To provide health, physical education, and recreation classes for Vincennes University students.
- To provide athletic opportunities for Vincennes University-sponsored athletic programs.
- To provide informal and intramural recreational facilities for the University students, faculty, staff, and families.
- To enhance the development and maintenance of individual physical fitness.
- To provide facilities for Vincennes University sponsored activities.
- To coordinate facility scheduling with public/community groups who request use of the Aquatic Center and associated facilities.
GENERAL POLICIES
The Aquatic Center and related areas are available without charge to the VU community as outlined below. See Learning Resource Center (LRC) or Human Resources to obtain a valid ID if you do not already have one. The Facilities Coordinator of Recreational Sports is responsible for scheduling all activities/areas within the Aquatic Center. Any person or group desiring to schedule any of the facilities should contact the office by calling 812-888-4957.
A. Students – All students with a valid current VU Blazer One-Card. During summer months, students registered for the following VU fall semester will have access to the recreation facilities. Qualifying students have occasional Guest privileges (see item E).
B. Faculty/Staff – currently employed full-time faculty and staff members and their spouse and dependent children have access to the recreation facilities with their proper VU ID Card. Dependents of full-time employees aged 18+ may use recreation facilities on their own. Dependents under age 18 (including those confined to strollers) must be accompanied by parent ID holder at all times. Qualifying faculty/staff have Guest privileges (see item E).
C. Retirees from full-time employment with VU – Retirees who participate in the University health insurance plan have access to the recreation facilities, as well as their spouses and dependent children who participate in the University health insurance plan. Qualifying dependents aged 18+ may use recreation facilities on their own with valid VU ID. Qualifying dependents under age 18 (including those confined to strollers) must be accompanied by parent/grandparent ID holder at all times.
D. Board Members – Current members of the University Board of Trustees and spouses of current members have access to the recreation facilities with appropriate valid VU ID.
E. Guests – Guest privileges are available to qualifying full-time faculty and staff (see above item B). Privileges are extended for an occasional guest. Guests must be age 18 or older and they must be accompanied at all times during the visit by the student/faculty/staff member with a valid ID. All guests will sign in and present an ID upon entering recreation facilities.
EQUIPMENT CHECK-OUT – TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE
- Equipment may be checked out of the Equipment Room by presenting a current valid VU Blazer One Card or current valid Faculty/staff ID.
- >A full array of equipment is available.
- Locks, Towels, Basketballs, Volleyballs
PROPER ATTIRE
- While using Aquatic Center facilities, proper attire is required for all males and females.
- All users are to wear clean, dedicated swimwear.
- This is a family-friendly facility; lifeguards will answer questions regarding whether your swimwear is acceptable.
- Non-swimwear is not acceptable, including t-shirts, cut-offs, etc.
LOCKER USE
- Two (2) locker rooms are located within the Aquatic Center.
- No overnight locks are to be left on lockers each day. Secure your belongings and check for personal items before leaving.
- Patrons must only use the locker room of his/her own gender.
- All patrons must enter Aquatic Center through lockers rooms after checking in.
VALUABLES
- Do not leave valuable personal belongings unattended.
- Use common sense, secure items, and be safe. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
BLAZER ONE-CARD STUDENT ID CARD
- Needs to be secured at all times with the user or in a secured location to protect it from misuse.
