During his comments, VU President Chuck Johnson extended congratulations to the faculty and staff who were promoted or received tenure.
“Thank you for all your dedication and hard work for VU and our students,” Johnson said.
In other business, the Board of Trustees also approved a new professional pre-nursing certificate.
The Health Care Professional Pre-Nursing CNA Track Certificate will offer students interested in nursing and health care professions an opportunity to become a certified nursing assistant and a chance to stack many of the generals needed to major in nursing.
The Trustees also approved emergency grading options to help students stay on track academically during the COVID-19 pandemic. Students can select a Pass/No Pass grade instead of a traditional letter grade. Options also include Letter Grade, Drop, Incomplete, and Withdrawal from the University.
Board Chair John Stachura and other Trustees saluted VU faculty and staff for all they’ve done in the wake of the pandemic.
Johnson also praised the entire VU family and thanked the Board for its continued support.
“I have tremendous gratitude for everyone in the VU family,” Johnson said. “I can’t think of a situation where people have been put under so much stress and pressure throughout such a short period of time, and yet have pulled through and are making things work. It’s throughout the university. It’s not one area. It’s not few individuals. It’s every single person.”
The April 29 Board meeting was held via Zoom due to restrictions on gathering limits and social distancing practices caused by the COVID-19 virus.
