HOW TO APPLY FOR HOUSING
Click APPLY FOR HOUSING. You must have your VU login credentials to access the contract. Please verify that the information shown in the application is correct and follow the instructions. Our assignment process is much different this year as we have a new system, we hope this change will improve the housing assignment process.
FOR RETURNING STUDENTS
- Applications open briefly during the semester for early applicants. Applications reopen May 1st and remain open until June 1st. They will close for a few days for processing then reopen for the duration of summer.
- Students will be picking their own room selection. They will receive a Room Selection Process Email after submitting their application. These emails will go out periodically over the course of summer, depending on when the application was received. It is important to check your email regularly for these, as Room Selection is a timed process. Students may also exchange roommate codes to create roommate groups at this time. When room selection is open, students can use their roommate codes to create roommate groups. When they choose a group leader, that person can select the room for them.
- Terms and Conditions links are sent to students based on what space student/roommate group chose in room selection.
- Room assignments for Fall will be available in mid-July. Information on how to find your assignment plus additional move-in information will be emailed to the students.
FOR NEW STUDENTS
- Applications open in mid- March.
- In the summer, students will receive an email instructing them in the Roommate Selection Process, where they will exchange roommate codes.
- Following Roommate Selection, Terms and Conditions links are sent to students. This will ask for the $200 deposit, as well as ask the student to make a meal plan choice. This commits you to receiving an assignment.
- Students are assigned by the housing team.
- Room assignments for Fall will be available in mid-July. Information on how to find
your assignment plus additional move-in information will be emailed to the students.
- All changes must be submitted in writing (HOUSING@VINU.EDU) to the Housing Office by July 1st for consideration. Requests for changes are not guaranteed.
- Room assignments (for the upcoming Fall semester) will be available in mid-July.
- Students are assigned based upon date of their application and payment of the damage deposit.
- New Students are required to pay a $200 damage deposit to complete their housing contract.
- Roommate requests must be mutual. If the roommate code provided in the housing portal will not work, students may email housing@vinu.edu with their request. All individuals must supply their roommates name and A# for the request to be considered. For suites in Clark where 2 double rooms exist and 4 individuals share the suite/bathroom you may submit roommate requests for the entire suite. Please specify roommate and suitemate preference.
- Roommate requests are not guaranteed. Roommate requests received after July 1st may not be considered.
- Single rooms are an additional fee per semester over the student's Room and Board charges. There is no longer a prepayment for single rooms. Please note we have a limited number of single rooms. Single rooms are assigned based upon submission date of their application.
- If you are a member of an athletic team, your coach may request specific room placements/roommate assignments. If you select a room in the selection process, we will do our best to accommodate both your requests and those of your team.
