Mike Gehrich is the Director of Aviation for Vincennes University, He manages the
aviation maintenance and aviation flight programs for Vincennes University at the
Aviation Technology Center.
A 27-year employee who has also been a faculty member and department chair, he is
a graduate of Vincennes University, specializing in aviation maintenance. He holds
a BS degree in Aviation Technology from Purdue University and an MLD from St. Mary
of the Woods College.
Gehrich has been an FAA certified airframe and power plant mechanic for 32 years.
He has also been an FAA Designated Mechanic Examiner for 26 years. He is a private
pilot and holds a class A commercial driver’s license. His career has included leadership
roles with the Indiana State Police Aviation Section, Lafayette Aviation, American
Trans Air, United Airlines, and Rolls Royce.
He currently serves on the Flight1 board and has served on the national board of the
Aviation Technician Education Council. He is a member of the Federal Aviation Administration
FAASTeam. He has served on the Walker Career Center Board and as a member of the IPS
school 15 community board. He has been a member of the VU President’s advisory committee,
Provost’s advisory committee, and faculty senate.
Gehrich has a passion for aviation education and promoting the aviation industry.
He has actively participated in the Indiana Math, Science, and Technology Alliance,
Minority Engineer Advancement program, Fearless Females program, and Minority Engineering
Program of Indianapolis, and as a Charter Member of the Talent Solutions Coalition.
