New students will have to complete the SELECTIVE HEALTH SCIENCES AND NURSING APPLICATION.

The Medical Coding curriculum includes a broad base of required Health Information Management courses. These courses enhance the students’ potential for seeking employment in a health care service agency. This certificate of completion is designed for students who are interested in pursuing a career in medical coding or related fields and can lead to enrollment into the Health Information Management (AS/CT) program.


WHAT CAN I DO WITH THIS DEGREE?

Graduates of the Medical Coding Certificate program would be qualified to seek employment as medical coders. Graduates can sit for the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) certification through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). This program can also take graduates right into the Health Information Management (HIM) associate degree program here at VU as they will already have 26 credits from the HIM program.
